The Ramova Brothers are a revolving door of musicians who come together to play a few times a year, mostly 'cause Mark promised to buy pizza. (Whoever shows up gets to eat and play, just not at the same time, please. We don't want no greasy guitars.) When last seen, the Ramova Brothers numbered nine talented musicians and singer/songwriters. That performance took place at Martyrs' Pub in November 2006. The show was a sold out, standing room only benefit for WGN Radio 720 Neediest Kids Fund.
The Ramova Brothers sprang to life one snowy Sunday morning in 2004, (no really!), when Rick Kogan got it in his head to tape and air the inaugural Christmas With The Ramova Brothers, after which, Mark took the Ramova Brothers on the road. 2005 saw the Ramovas opening for the Jazz Diva’s at the HotHouse for a fundraiser benefiting the Northern Illinois Brain Injury Foundation, as well making the trip down to the Illinois State Fair and then back home for the Chicago Artist’s Katrina Victims Benefit in Logan Square. More live appearances on WGN Radio’s Steve Cochran Show led to a packed house at The Park West for the Ramova Brothers’ first annual (live) Holiday Concert. We had so much fun, we had to do it again. |
